1 MAASAI MARA Safari & Tourist Attractions 0 USD
The Masai Mara (also spelled Maasai Mara) is a large park reserve in south-western Kenya, which is effectively the northern continuation of the Serengeti National Park game reserve in Tanzania. Named for the Maasai people (the traditional inhabitants of the area) and the Mara River which divides it, it is famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of the wildebeest every July and August, a migration so immense it is called the Great Migration. The Masai Mara is perhaps most famous for its lions. All other members of the "Big Five" are to be found in the Masai Mara, although the population of black rhinoceros is severely threatened, with a population of only 37 recorded in 2000. Hippopotami are found in large groups in the Masai Mara and Talek Rivers. Cheetah are also to be found, although their numbers are also threatened, chiefly due to tourist disruption of their day-time hunting. As mentioned above, the plains between the Mara river and the Esoit Oloololo Escarpment are probably the best area for game viewing, in particular regarding lion and cheetah. Like in the Serengeti, the wildebeest are the dominant inhabitant of the Masai Mara, and their numbers are estimated in the millions. Around July of each year these ungainly animals migrate in a vast ensemble north from the Serengeti plains in search of fresh pasture, and return to the south around October. The Great Migration is one of the most impressive natural events worldwide, involving an immensity of hervibores: some 1,300,000 Wildebeest, 360,000 Thomson's Gazelle, and 191,000 Zebra. These numerous migrants are followed along their annual, circular route by a block of hungry predators, most notably lions and hyena. Numerous other antelope can be found, including Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, impala, topi and Coke's hartebeest. Large herds of zebra are found through the reserve. The plains are also home to the distinctive Masai giraffe as well as the common giraffe. The large Roan antelope and the nocturnal bat-eared fox, rarely present elsewhere in Kenya, can be seen within the reserve borders. The Masai Mara is a major research centre for the spotted hyena. Additionally, over 450 species of birdlife have been identified in the park, including vulture, marabou, secretary bird, hornbill, crowned crane, ostrich, long-crested eagle, and pygmy falcon.

2 JIM CABS car rentals 0 USD
When our fleet was 2 cabs big we used to go into every maintenance detail to ensure the vehicle was always in super condition. We were new in the trade and had a name to make. As a result of our commitment, our small fleet became the talk of the trade. Robust, reliable, comfortable, efficient and so on … Years later we still go over the same maintenance rigour to make sure every nut and bolt is in the right place. The fleet has now grown and the winning standards have to be maintained in order to stay up there. When Jim Cab was incorporated in year 2000 we started as a small family business and every bit of our service was personalized. This is true for most small businesses. Today Jim Cab is rated as one of the leading cab company in Kenya. The volume not withstanding, all our clients are still treated as personal guests. We have invested substantially to maintain the efficiency and the personalized service that has been our foundation and is now the Jim Cab Services trademark. 4 KAREN BLIXEN COFFEE GARDEN RESTAURANT AND COTTAGES car rentals 0 USD
Dr. Bonnie Dunbar of Houston, Texas (see curriculum vitae under Dr. Dunbar's background) was given the rare opportunity to buy the property previously known as the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden in Karen, Kenya (about 30 minutes from Jomo Kenyatta International airport and downtown Nairobi). The property was purchased from Mr. Frank Sutton, a former Safari Guide and long time friend of Bonnie’s before he passed away in December 2000. It is the site of the original farmhouse of the property, which now is near the Karen Blixen Museum (of “Out of Africa”) and about half a mile from the Karen Golf and Country Club where guest can enjoy golfing, tennis, squash as well as other activities. During Dr. Dunbar’s years of working and traveling in Africa, she has made special friends with numerous Kenyan ranchers, farmers, wildlife scientists and safari guides. She would like to share her experiences and her passion for Africa through this special project. A stay over at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden provides many special opportunities including: * A visit to one of the most romantic pieces of property in the history of the Africa during the 20th century. A place to call “home” on your way to paradise in the Kenyan “bush”. * A refreshing alternative for business accommodations if you are not doing business in downtown Nairobi, with all the services of a large hotel. The Coffee Garden sits only 5 ½ acres of land with large hundred year old trees and a beautiful garden with hundreds of different varieties of blooming flowers, and a large population of birds. # The old historic house has been renovated as a lounge where you can come enjoy breakfast or lunch, afternoon tea and cocktails and candlelight dinner or after dinner cocktails. Enjoy the historic, copper plated fire place and music playing on the old Gramophone while you listen to talks by “safari guides of golden days in Africa” and internationally known wildlife experts. Formal group "Out of Africa" dinners or receptions can be arranged by reservation. # The indoor L'amour restaurant and bar were designed by Danish Architect, Thomas Gronlyke. (All buildings have been constructed to match the façade of the historical Swedo House). The restaurant has two large fireplaces and opens onto a covered verandah for outdoor dining on rainy days. The indoor restaurant and verandah will seat over 100 diners. The garden will seat 100+ diners and can also be expanded with garden tents for special functions. The mahogany bar opens to its own verandah and has an indoor/outdoor fireplace. The bar is a popular place for mingling with locals and has a large screen TV for major news and sporting events, dart board, other game boards.
